RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approval of Resolution.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a contract in the amount of $420,775, as well as all required supplemental agreements thereto, with a not to exceed amount of $460,000 for professional consulting engineering services for the McKinney Downtown Fire Sprinkler project.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

 

                     This project involves nine (9) blocks in downtown McKinney, Texas. The selected design firm will be required to assess these downtown blocks, create as-built plans for existing buildings where such plans are not already available, propose design options for each block, and develop a comprehensive design that includes fire risers and main lines to ensure proper access to each property.

 

                     The City issued a 25-42RFQ - Request for Qualification to solicit responses for the McKinney Downtown Fire Sprinkler Project on May 2, 2025.

o                     610 Supplier Notifications

 

                     Out of 610 supplier notifications, two (2) submittals (RFQs) were received on May 29, 2025.

 

                     An evaluation committee comprised of staff from City Manager’s Office, Fire Protection, Engineering, Culture District - Main Street, and Building Inspections.  The evaluation committee reviewed and ranked the RFQs based on the following criteria:

o                     25 Points: Project Team

o                     27 Points: Project Experience and Client Satisfaction

o                     30 Points: Representative Project Approach

o                     15 Points: Team Service and Innovation

o                       3 Points: Prime Firm Office Location

 

                     Based on the results of the evaluated proposal responses, the evaluation team recommends award to Reed Fire Protection Engineering.  

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     This Resolution authorizes a contract with Reed Fire Protection Engineering, L.L.C. for an amount not to exceed $460,000.
