ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     Sanchez Charities, LLC (dba Run for Hope) is requesting $10,550.00 for the advertising, marketing and promotion of the 2026 Run for Hope: Walk in Unity event.

                     The event will take place at Bonnie Wenk Park on November 14, 2026.

                     The event will feature a 5K run, a one-mile unity walk and a family-friendly festival.

                     Goals of the event are to increase awareness of the NeighborHub project and to promote unity by strengthening interfaith and community relationships.

                     The funds raised by the event will be used to alleviate the cost of rent for non-profits at NeighborHub including: Neighbors Nourishing Neighbors, Streetside Showers, One Heart McKinney, Community Health Clinic, North Texas MedBridge, and Saint Vincent De Paul.

                     Registration for the one-mile run is free. Registration for 5K Run and Unity Walk with t-shirt is $25 each.

                     Expected attendance is 600 with 45% from outside of McKinney.

                     Request represents 100% of total promotional budget.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     The mission of Sanchez Charities, LLC is to leverage business relationships and skills developed over twenty years and concentrate the resources resulting from those relationships to improve the lives of McKinney residents where specific needs are identified. Strategic goals for Sanchez Charities are community development, reduction of food scarcity and hunger, and community enhancement.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     MCDC’s allocation for Promotional and Community Event grants for FY 26 is $250,000, with $125,470 remaining and available for Cycle II applicants.

                     MCDC awarded a Promotional and Community Event grant in FY 25 in an amount of $7,500 for the Run for Hope events.
