ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The Art Club of McKinney is requesting $13,739 as follows:

o                     $10,500 for the production of a documentary film promoting McKinney as an arts destination and featuring local artists, galleries, art shows/events, workshops, MAST, MillHouse, Arts in Bloom. The film will be marketed within and outside of McKinney and through art clubs throughout Texas.

o                     $6,839 for the promotion of 2026-2027 events including:

                     Wildflowers & Wonderment (November 2026)

                     Sweetwater Coffee Popup (December 2026)

                     School Art Exhibit (January 19, 2027)

                     Art Meets Poetry (February 2027)

                     Spring Member Exhibit (April 22,-25, 2027)

                     The Great Art Journey (May 3, 2027)

                     ColorWalk (TBD)

                     Arts in Bloom (April 2027)

                     Workshops (16) (TBD)

                     Historic Square Art Walks (TBD)

                     Expected combined attendance for all events is 1,200+ with 50% from outside of McKinney.

                     Admission to events is free.

                     Request represents 77% of total promotional budget.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Founded in 1914, the Art Club of McKinney is the oldest art club in Texas.

                     With 135+ members, its mission is to elevate the art standards of the community by education through various projects and programs.

                     Collaboration with other art related organizations in McKinney is a priority; those organizations include food service groups and the East McKinney Learning Garden.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     MCDC’s allocation for Promotional and Community Event grants for FY 26 is $250,000, with $125,470 remaining and available for Cycle II applicants.

                     MCDC awarded a Promotional and Community Event grant in FY 25 to Art Club of McKinney in an amount of $4,200 for 2025-2026 events.
