RECOMMEND CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of the Resolution
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This resolution authorizes the purchase of four restroom buildings, five pavilions, a large restroom building with showers and integrated pavilion, an overlook structure, and a maintenance building from Romtec, Inc. to be constructed as part of the Erwin Park Improvements Project (PK9143), for an amount of $1,998,485.98 not to exceed $2,100,000.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The proposal from Romtec is in accordance with Romtec’s approved BuyBoard contract, and the pricing was reviewed and verified by the City’s Procurement Department.
• Romtec is a building package supplier who provides submittals and drawings for approval and installation purposes for their structures.
• By purchasing these structures directly from Romtec, the City benefits from the 9% discounted BuyBoard pricing while avoiding contractor markup of the structures which is typically between 10% and 15%.
• Purchasing the structures ahead of bidding out the Erwin Improvements Project for construction allows the City to include Romtec’s structural, architectural, and MEP drawings in the construction plans for the park improvements, leading to more precise bids on the project’s construction. The awarded contractor will also receive the buildings earlier in the construction phase as building production lead times can start sooner with this purchase.
• This project will bid for construction summer 2025.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The Resolution authorizes the purchase of four restroom buildings, five pavilions, a large restroom building with showers and integrated pavilion, an overlook structure, and a maintenance building from Romtec, Inc. for an amount of $1,998,485.98 not to exceed $2,100,000.
• Erwin Park Improvements Project (PK9143) is a FY24-25 Capital Improvements Program project funded by MCDC and Parkland Dedication funds.
• With the approval of this item, $6,016,197 will remain in PK9143.
BOARD OR COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
