ITEM SUMMARY:

This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to enter into an Advance Funding Agreement (AFA) with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to install traffic illumination on University Drive (US 380) from FM 2478 (Custer Rd) to Bois D’Arc Rd and Industrial Blvd from SH 5 (McDonald St) to Westmoreland Dr.

The AFA defines the participation percentages and total estimated costs for each party involved, including the Federal, State, and Local Government.

This project is scheduled to be let by TxDOT in March 2025.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

•    The City of McKinney responded to TxDOT’s 2021 and 2022 Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) call for projects. As a result, US 380 and Industrial Blvd was awarded a total of $2,342,477 to install roadway lighting.

•    The design for this project is expected to be complete by August 2024.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

Funds have been allocated in TR2024 and TR2027 to cover the City’s portion of direct and construction overrun costs.

The estimated local contribution before construction is $218,787.35. The final Local Government participation will be based on actual costs during construction.
