RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of the Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• LJA Engineering, Inc. recently completed the master plan for this park. Based upon their master plan design and quality of work, they were requested to provide design and construction administration services for the completion of the project.
• During the master planning process, which consisted of public input via an online survey, a master plan was developed that provides the park with amenities such as:
o Play structure
o Walking paths
o Boardwalk
o Shade structure
o Parking lot
• We received 755 survey responses and the completed master plan reflects the comments and preferences from an overwhelming majority of respondents.
• This agenda item will authorize a professional services contract with LJA Engineering Inc., to provide design and construction administration services for the McKinney Greens Park, for a contract amount of $133,250 and a not to exceed amount of $140,000.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• David C. Baldwin, Inc. was selected from a list of pre-qualified landscape architectural firms that Council approved on June 18, 2019. David C. Baldwin, Inc. was recently acquired by LJA Engineering, Inc. and LJA Engineering, Inc. will continue to provide the City with architectural and engineering services with the same personnel and service capacities.
• They are providing design and construction services for the nearby Wilson Creek Greens trail project as well as master planning services for Towne Lake. Due to their quality of work and maintaining design consistency in the immediate area, LJA Engineering, Inc. was requested to provide design and construction administration services for this park project.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• This project (PK2109) is a FY21-22 Capital Improvements Program funded by MCDC funds.
• Upon approval of this item, $1,560,000 will remain in PK2109.
BOARD OR COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
• The Parks, Recreation & Open Space Advisory Board unanimously recommended approval of this item at their December 9th meeting.
