ITEM SUMMARY:
• McKinney Community Development Corporation will conduct a public hearing on a grant request in an amount of $27,458.92 for installation of drainage and replacement of concrete with turf for the Outdoor Wedding Venue at The Cotton Mill.
• Drainage issues have caused damage to the original concrete foundation.
• In order to install drainage that is needed, grinding current concrete areas would be required.
• When drainage is improved, turf will be installed.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The Cotton Mill is a unique, historic facility offering loft office space, event hall and a perfect backdrop for photography shoots.
• The industrial equipment and unique features that once made the place the largest denim manufacturer in the world remain today, making it a one-of-a-kind destination for weddings, parties, and corporate events.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• Funds allocated for MCDC Retail Development Infrastructure Grants total $300,000 ($150,000 for each of 2 cycles).
• In Cycle 1 of this FY, The Cotton Mill was awarded a Retail Development Infrastructure Grant in an amount of $23,745 for construction of a sidewalk leading to retail shops and installation of security lighting.
• The request is eligible for MCDC consideration under Section 501.152 of the Texas Local Government Code - definition of “project.”
