ITEM SUMMARY:
• MCDC will conduct a public hearing on a request submitted by McKinney Parks and Recreation Department in the amount of $1,177,920 for the following projects:
o $400,000 for Parks Master Plan;
o $200,000 for ADA Remediations throughout the parks system; and
o $577,920 for equipment and vehicles including:
§ 3 Ford Explorers for facilities staff and 3 Ford trucks for maintenance to improve Parks department’s ability to inspect, maintain, and respond to operational needs at parks, recreation centers, and community facilities throughout McKinney;
§ A trailer to increase operational efficiency by allowing staff to transport equipment, materials, and supplies safely between sites, while reducing downtime and maximizing productivity;
§ A concierge golf cart at the Senior Recreation Center to enhance accessibility and customer service; and
§ A skid steer to allow staff to perform grading, landscaping, debris removal, material handling, and other essential maintenance tasks more efficiently.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The current Parks Master Plan was approved in 2017 and updated in 2023. A new plan will proactively address future development while integrating its parks system into the City’s overall strategy for economic success. Estimated completion of the Parks Master Plan is October 2028.
• Estimated completion for purchase of all equipment and vehicles is October 2027.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• If funding for this request is approved by MCDC, funding amount will be included in MCDC’s FY 26-27 annual budget.
• The request is eligible for MCDC consideration under Section 505.152 of the Texas Local Government Code.
