RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:

                     Approval of Resolution

 

ITEM SUMMARY:

                     This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a contract in the amount of $321,600.00, as well as all required supplemental agreements thereto, with Terracon Consultants, Inc. for geotechnical and materials testing services for the construction of the SH 5 Utility Relocations Project (CIP Projects WA1633 and WW1633), for a total aggregate contract amount, inclusive of any supplemental agreements, not to exceed $375,000.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

                     A concurrent item is included on the Council Agenda recommending award of a construction contract for the SH 5 Utility Relocations Project (CIP Projects WA1633 and WW1633).

                     Materials testing services will be required on the project to ensure construction materials used by the contractor meet or exceed City requirements.

                     Terracon Consultants, Inc. submitted a response to 24-13RFQ for On-call Miscellaneous Geotechnical and Materials Testing Services. Terracon was one of six (6) firms shortlisted by City Council on March 5, 2024.

                     Terracon Consultants, Inc. has successfully performed in a similar capacity on numerous City projects.

                     Terracon Consultants, Inc. submitted a proposal to provide geotechnical and materials testing services for the construction of the SH 5 Utility Relocations project in the amount of $321,600.00 which has been reviewed by staff and is recommended for approval.

                     Reimbursement for materials testing services provided will be made based on actual time and materials billing in amount not to exceed the estimated proposal amount.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

                     This Resolution authorizes a contract and all necessary supplemental agreements with Terracon Consultants, Inc., for an amount not to exceed $375,000.

                     Funding for this contract is included in the Capital Improvements Program (WA1633 and WW1633)

o                     WA1633 (Fund 20) - $280,000 (74.7%)

o                     WW1633 (Fund 20) - $95,000 (25.3%)

                     With the approval of this item and accompanying construction contract, the following fund balances will remain in each respective project.

o                     $7,465,433.42 will remain in Project WA1633.

o                     $2,861,447.83 will remain in Project WW1633.
