RECOMMENDED PARK BOARD ACTION:
• Approval of the Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• Due to a recent fire, the restroom/concession building at Grady Littlejohn Softball & Baseball Complex was a total loss.
• This project will consist of a new concession/restroom building as well as upgrades to the existing dugouts, walkways, and spectator seating. It will also address drainage issues and concrete repair.
• This agenda item will authorize a professional services contract with LJA Engineering, to provide design and construction administration services for Grady Littlejohn Improvements, in a contract amount of $245,465 and not to exceed $250,000.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• LJA Engineering was selected from a list of pre-qualified landscape architectural firms that Council approved on July 19, 2022.
• LJA Engineering has completed the master plan for the overall Towne Lake Park as well as design for the new dog park and light walk within Towne Lake.
• Grady Littlejohn Softball & Baseball Complex is located within Towne Lake Park at 1401 Wilson Creek Parkway and was originally constructed in 1989.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• This project (PK2448) is a FY23-24 Capital Improvements Program funded by McKinney Community Development Corporation and parkland dedication funds.
• Upon approval of this item, $158,857 will remain in PK2448.
BOARD OR COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
• The Parks, Recreation & Open Space Advisory Board recommended approval of this item at their April 11th meeting.
