RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of the Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• The list of improvements includes new restroom facilities, pavilions, park entry, looped hike and bike trail, power and water to all campsites, resurfaced park roads, sanitary sewer, and site furnishings.
• The addition of the mountain bike skills course to an established hike and bike nature trail network and continued efforts to establish itself as a prairie land restoration destination attracts a variety of visitors from all around to Erwin Park. These improvements will greatly enhance the experience of park guests as usage increases.
• This agenda item will authorize a professional services contract with Teague Nall and Perkins, Inc. to provide landscape architecture, engineering, and survey services for the Erwin Park Improvements in a contract amount of $515,110 and not to exceed $570,000.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Teague Nall and Perkins, Inc. was selected from a list of pre-qualified landscape architectural firms that Council approved on July 19, 2022.
• The planned improvements associated with this item are consistent with the master plan that was prepared in 2008 for Erwin Park.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• Erwin Park Improvements (PK9143) is a FY22-23 Capital Improvements Program funded by MCDC funds and parkland dedication contributions.
• Upon approval of this item and companion item to increase the budget of this project, $542,583.83 remains in the project.
BOARD OR COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
• This project was reviewed by the Parks, Recreation & Open Space Advisory Board on June 8, 2023, as part of the annual CIP overview discussion.
