ITEM SUMMARY:
• This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to enter into a Construction and Maintenance Agreement with Dallas Garland & Northeastern Railroad Inc. (DGNO), for the railroad crossing improvements at East Louisiana Street required for the East Louisiana Street Improvements Projects (ST1817) for a total contract amount not to exceed $519,117.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The East Louisiana Street Improvements Project is currently under construction.
• Improvements to the railroad facilities, including a new roadway crossing and automated warning devices with the addition of roadway gates are proposed to be constructed in conjunction with the roadway improvements.
• The railroad is operated by the Dallas Garland & Northeastern Railroad (DGNO) who maintain the railroad facilities within Dallas Area Rapid Transit’s (DART) property. DGNO utilizes specialized contractors to carry out any maintenance work or improvements to these facilities.
• DGNO and its contractors will construct the proposed improvements and City will reimburse DGNO for the total project cost associated with the railroad crossing at East Louisiana Street.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• This Resolution authorizes a contract and all necessary change orders with Dallas Garland & Northeastern Railroad Inc. (DGNO), for an amount not to exceed $519,117.
• With the approval of this item $480,167.99 will remain in Project ST1817.
