RECOMMENDED PARK BOARD ACTION:
• Approval of the Recommendation.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• Dunaway Associates, L.P. prepared a master plan in 2020 of Wattley Park located at 912 Charleston St. The plan developed a conceptual design for improvements and established a budget for implementation.
• The list of possible improvements includes a new play structure, pavilion, refurbished basketball court, looped hike and bike trail, reconfigured parking, and site furnishings, which are all reflected in the above-mentioned approved master plan.
• Based upon their master plan design and quality of work, they were requested to provide design and construction administration services for the completion of the project.
• This agenda item will authorize a professional services contract with Dunaway Associates, L.P. to provide landscape architectural and engineering services for Wattley Park Improvements in a contract amount of $209,620 and not to exceed $220,000.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The construction of this project will follow the Voluntary Clean-Up Program (VCP) and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) project to place a soil cap on the old landfill. This portion of the project is being managed by the City’s Engineering Department.
• Dunaway Associates was selected from a list of pre-qualified landscape architectural firms that Council approved on June 18, 2019.
• Dunaway Associates has provided landscape architectural services for other park projects which include Mary Will Craig Park Improvements and The Parks Master Plan.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• Park Renovations (PK1831) is a FY21-22 Capital Improvements Program funded by MCDC funds, bond monies and parkland dedication contributions.
