RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approve ordinance

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     This Ordinance amends the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Annual Budget by appropriating $460,000 from the TIRZ 1 Fund balance for the Downtown Fire Sprinkler Project.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     This project involves nine (9) blocks in downtown McKinney, Texas. The selected design firm will be required to assess these downtown blocks, create as-built plans for existing buildings where such plans are not already available, propose design options for each block, and develop a comprehensive design that includes fire risers and main lines to ensure proper access to each property.

                     Reed Fire Protection Engineering was selected for engineering services for this project with a not to exceed amount of $460,000.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     This Ordinance amends the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Annual Budget by appropriating $460,000 from the TIRZ 1 Fund balance for the Downtown Fire Sprinkler Project.

 

 

BOARD OR COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:

                     At the December 16, 2025 Reinvestment Zone No. 1 Regular Meeting (held earlier tonight), the TIRZ Board considered funding the amount of $460,000 for engineering services for the downtown fire sprinkler project.
