RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
· Approve the Resolution
ITEM SUMMARY:
· The Texas Department of Transportation Dallas District has developed a list of 28 major projects that they are advancing in the region. This list of projects has an estimated total construction cost of $22.8 billion.
· The Dallas District has selected 9 of the 28 of those projects to be advanced if Proposition 1 is approved by voters in the November election. Those projects include:
○ I-345 Overhead Bridge - I-30 to Spur 366
○ I-35E/US 67 Southern Gateway
○ I-35E (Lowest Stemmons) - I-30 to north of Oak Lawn
○ I-35E - Waxahachie
○ I-45 - Corsicana
○ SH 161 - SH 183 to Beltline Road
○ I-635 LBJ Freeway East - I-30 to east of US 75
○ US 75 - Melissa Road to the Grayson County Line
○ SH 183 - SH 161 to I-35E
· Proposition 1 would shift funds from the Rainy Day fund that comes from oil and gas revenue to support transportation related projects. The first year is expected to bring $1.2 billion dollars in transportation funding.
· Two regionally significant projects within the City of McKinney are the new alignment of FM 546 and the FM 543 Connector project. These projects will be added to the resolution of support.
