title
Recognition of the McKinney Ice Hockey Varsity Team
summary
The McKinney Ice Hockey Varsity Team is composed of the three area McKinney High Schools and two other high schools whose players were drafted through open tryouts (for those area high schools who do not have high school hockey teams).
The McKinney Ice Hockey Varsity Team defeated three-time State champion Plano West to qualify to attend the Toyota/USA Hockey High School Nationals Tournament in Chesterfield, Missouri from March 19 through March 23.
This is the first McKinney-based high school hockey team to win State and qualify for Nationals. They must meet the same UIL standard of "no pass/no play" as the UIL school-sponsored sports such as football, basketball, baseball, etc. The members of the team must be proficient in both hockey and academics.
