ITEM SUMMARY:
• The city is a grantee of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for the program year 2021-2022; the amount of $580,863 for the Housing Rehabilitation Program (staffing and services) of which $416,137 was allocated for direct repairs under the city budget. Funding of $571,410 from previous grant years will be requested to supplement additional direct services support for the program.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Funding will be used to complete repairs for eligible residents. City Council approved the current budget on August 3, 2021.
• The increased cost of materials and interest of the program required adjustment to the current budget; funding will further supplement repair services portion of the budget for eligible homeowners and will subsequently also increase the number of home repairs by the end of the program year.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The ordinance will amend the Fiscal Year 2021-22 Annual budget, allocating funds available from HUD for the ongoing Housing Rehabilitation Program, under fiscal year and program year ending September 30, 2022. The funds are tracked under fiscal year account numbers that begin with the sequence of 017-1703.
