ITEM SUMMARY:
• Funding of $12,000 is requested from the Public Art Fund as match for available TCA grant funds.
• The grant would fund public artwork in the form of butterflies, created by McKinney artists, and placed at strategic locations within the Cultural District.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The City of McKinney has obtained a Cultural District Designation.
• The Texas Commission on the Arts has grant funding available to support projects in designated Cultural Districts.
• In 2018, the City of McKinney signed the National Wildlife Federation’s Monarch Pledge, supporting the creation of beneficial ecosystems to ensure the future of the monarch butterfly and other pollinators.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• Funds will be taken from 001-9999-403-8559.
• Inclusive of all current obligations, $22,195 will be remaining in the Public Art Fund if this project is approved.
