ITEM SUMMARY:

This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to Execute an Interlocal Agreement with the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) for a Tire Collection Event in an amount not to exceed $3,000.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The proposed scrap tire collection and disposal event is scheduled for June 3, 2023 at the Municipal Maintenance Facility North Campus (3501 North Central Expressway) and is open to all City residents.

This event aligns with a key recommendation of the Solid Waste Management Strategy by integrating content and resources from NCTCOG and The Recycling Partnership.

This initiative aims to reduce illegally dumped or stockpiled tires within the City, which can cause environmental damage and create mosquito breeding grounds.

The City has secured grant funding from NCTCOG in an amount not to exceed $3,000 to support collecting and disposing of scrap tires from within the City.
