ITEM SUMMARY:
• Smiles Charity is requesting $15,000 for advertising, marketing and promotion of the 2018 Smiles Charity Concert.
• The event will be held on May 27, 2018 in Adriatica.
• The event is a community-wide concert that attracts 15,000 participants.
• 2018 will mark the 11th anniversary of the Smiles Charity Concert and Family Festival.
• The event is provided free of charge to all attendees.
• More than 500 volunteers work on the concert event.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Smiles Charity is a 501(c)(3) and raises funds to build homes for wounded veterans.
• Over the past 10 years, Smiles has built 12 homes for deserving families. The 13th home will be completed in 2018-29.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• MCDC’s allocation for Promotional and Community Event grants for FY 18 is $150,000, $75,000 for Cycle I applicants, and $75,000 for Cycle II applicants.
• Smiles Charity received promotional grant funding in 2016 ($5,000). Smiles Charity received sponsorship/advertising support in 2015 and 2017.
