RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
· Authorize the contract
ITEM SUMMARY:
· David James who will be the Interim Police Chief has a proven track record and is highly regarded in the Law Enforcement Industry and the City Manager's Office recommends executing a contract for his services.
· The contract will be for a period of six months with the option to renew month to month until a permanent Police Chief is selected.
· David James will be in charge of the day to day activities of the Police Department while the City conducts a national search for a new Police Chief.
· David James has the knowledge, skills, and abilities to accomplish the duties of the Interim Police Chief.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
· Costs are estimated at $112,500 for a period of nine months, which is the estimated time frame for a permanent police chief to be selected.
