RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of the Resolution
ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Resolution authorizes the execution of an Agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for the temporary closures of the northbound east lane of Custer Road (FM 2478) between Collin McKinney Parkway and Stacy Road for a special event.
* The temporary single lane closure will begin approximately thirty minutes before the special event starts for the day and the lane will be reopened to traffic at the conclusion of each event.
* The temporary lane closure is estimated to extend for four (4) hours.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* Life Time McKinney at Craig Ranch submitted an application for a special event permit with the City of McKinney for a Sprint Triathlon on September 10, 2023.
* The bicycle course of each triathlon begins and ends at Life Time McKinney at Craig Ranch with a portion of the race course on northbound Custer Road between Collin McKinney Parkway and Stacy Road.
* This is the same race route Craig Ranch Fitness has used for previous triathlons.
* Per Ordinance 2018-12-089, Custer Road (FM 2478) may be utilized twice per year in conjunction with a triathlon. This is the second event in 2023.
* A temporary closure along state right of way requires an agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
