RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of the attached Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• The proposed Resolution authorizes the application for and acceptance of, if awarded, a North Central Texas Council of Governments’ (NCTCOG) application to the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) for a grant to pay up to 50% of the cost of purchase and installation for advance warning stations for high-water crossings.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The City is requesting two (2) low water advance warning stations to be located at Park View Avenue and Valley Creek Trail. (Two stations equal four units to allow for coverage in both directions).
• Traffic counts at both of these locations are estimated at 9,780 vehicles daily.
• The total cost for both high water advance warning stations will be approximately $140,000.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The grant will be awarded in FY17.
• The grant funding program requires a 50% match from the City.
• The funding source for the matching funds for this grant application are:
o Engineering ($35,000): 001-4103-433-8516
o Office of Emergency Management ($15,000): 001-3225-423-8516
• In-kind match of up to $20,640 is also available from Public Works provided in labor, materials, and equipment.
