RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approval of Resolution to accept and implement the grant, if awarded, to fund the capability to enhance citizen participation and preparedness.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The UASI program focus is to support state and local efforts to prevent terrorism and other catastrophic events and to prepare the nation for the threats and hazards that pose the greatest risk to our security.

                     This project will address the National Priority Area for Enhancing Community Preparedness and Resilience.

                     Funds from this grant project, if awarded, will be used to purchase one propane burn pan training device and one digital fire simulation/extinguisher training device to be used during CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) training to demonstrate fire management in a controlled setting.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     The UASI program grant award has been sought annually by the City of McKinney to help prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural, man-made, and technological threats or hazards.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The total grant amount requested is $25,000. There is no required match.
