ITEM SUMMARY:
• Texas Women Society is requesting $15,000 for the advertising, marketing and promotion of the 2026 McKinney Asian Festival at City Hall Plaza.
• The event will promote cross-cultural understanding and appreciation by showcasing the sights, sounds and tastes of the many different Asian countries represented in our community.
• The event will include live music, traditional Asian décor, food trucks, and cultural demonstrations.
• Expected attendance is 5,000 to 8,000, with 65% from outside of McKinney.
• Admission to the event is free.
• Request represents 65% of total promotional budget.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Texas Women Society is a non-profit women’s organization in the North Texas area that was founded by three Asian women in March 2022.
• The mission is to empower women and make a positive impact on the community by increasing awareness of different cultures and promoting unity through diversity and understanding.
• The organization has more than 100 members and five non-paid Board members.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• MCDC’s allocation for Promotional and Community Event grants for FY 26 is $250,000, with $125,470 remaining and available for Cycle II applicants.
• MCDC awarded a Promotional and Community Event grant to Texas Women Society in FY25 in an amount of $12,000 for the 2026 McKinney Asian Food and Art Festival.
