ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     Texas Women Society is requesting $15,000 for the advertising, marketing and promotion of the 2026 McKinney Asian Festival at City Hall Plaza.

                     The event will promote cross-cultural understanding and appreciation by showcasing the sights, sounds and tastes of the many different Asian countries represented in our community.

                     The event will include live music, traditional Asian décor, food trucks, and cultural demonstrations.

                     Expected attendance is 5,000 to 8,000, with 65% from outside of McKinney.

                     Admission to the event is free.

                     Request represents 65% of total promotional budget.

 

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Texas Women Society is a non-profit women’s organization in the North Texas area that was founded by three Asian women in March 2022.

                     The mission is to empower women and make a positive impact on the community by increasing awareness of different cultures and promoting unity through diversity and understanding.

                     The organization has more than 100 members and five non-paid Board members.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     MCDC’s allocation for Promotional and Community Event grants for FY 26 is $250,000, with $125,470 remaining and available for Cycle II applicants.

                     MCDC awarded a Promotional and Community Event grant to Texas Women Society in FY25 in an amount of $12,000 for the 2026 McKinney Asian Food and Art Festival.
