RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approval of the Resolution

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The resolution will finalize a purchase and sale agreement for 110 acres of land and an interlocal agreement between the City of McKinney and McKinney Independent School District for current and future public uses.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Throughout 2025, the Engineering Department and City Manager’s Office have been evaluating parcels of land in the northern section of McKinney to develop a fifth take point for water.

                     The McKinney Independent School District has made two parcels totaling approximately 110 acres available to the city for $7,500,000 in addition to other in-kind considerations relating to current and future Parks and Recreation facility use for aquatics activities at MISD.

                     These parcels are sufficiently located for the development of the Engineering Department’s fifth water take point.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The City of McKinney will purchase approximately 110 acres of land from the MISD for $7,500,000 and miscellaneous in-kind current and future public uses considerations.
