RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:

                     Approval of Resolution.

ITEM SUMMARY:

Resolution provides authority to City Manager to acquire property rights (right-of-way and easements) as needed to construct a 3 million gallon elevated storage tank south of Silverado Trail and east of Alma Road.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The 2004 Master Plan provides for an elevated water storage tank in the vicinity of Alma Road in the Regional Employment Center area.

The 2010-14 Capital Improvements Program currently has funding for the acquisition of land rights for construction of said elevated water storage tank.

The engineering consulting firm of Birkhoff, Hendricks & Carter, LLP and staff has identified a suitable site in the area of Alma Road and Silverado Trail  for the construction of the tank.

The City will need to acquire an approximate 3 acre site from one property owner and a 40’ to 50’ wide Waterline and Access Easement from two property owners, as shown on the attached exhibit.

In the event eminent domain proceedings for the acquisition of property rights for the construction of the Alma Road-REC Elevated Storage Tank would be necessary, this Resolution would authorize said action.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

Funds for the land acquisition are available in WA5019.
