ITEM SUMMARY:
• This is Ordinance amends Section 62-107 of the Code of Ordinances to establish a speed limit of 50 mph for Harry McKillop Boulevard from Wattley Way to the eastern city limit.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has conducted a speed study along Harry McKillop Boulevard (FM 546) from west of Wattley Way to CR 863 to reevaluate the speed limit.
• In accordance with State Law and Department policy, TxDOT has proposed to lower the speed limit to 50 mph along Harry McKillop Boulevard (FM 546) in this area.
• The only portions of Harry McKillop Boulevard (FM 546) within the city limits of the City of McKinney within this speed study are located from Wattley Way to just east of CR 722 and from River Bend Way to the west of Evans Road. The remainder of Harry McKillop Boulevard (FM 546) is within Collin County.
• Approval of this Ordinance will reduce the speed zone limit of Harry McKillop Boulevard (FM 546) from 55 mph to 50 mph from Wattley Way to the most eastern city limit.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• No funds will be expended for this item. The Texas Department of Transportation will install all necessary signage along Harry McKillop Boulevard (FM 546).
