ITEM SUMMARY:
• This resolution would amend the City’s existing policy on Board and Commission Member Appointments and Eligibility regarding the McKinney Community Development Corporation and McKinney Economic Development Corporation:
o Provide directions on the method for City Council to nominate and appoint members, and
o Allow for the annual appointment of members without staggered terms and without limits to the numbers of consecutive terms or length of board service.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The City’s Policy on Board and Commission Member Appointments and Eligibility provides guidance on various aspects of membership requirements, appointment process, and service to the city. The policy was last amended March 1, 2022, as Resolution 2022-03-039 (R).
• City Council met in work session on August 4, 2026, to discuss potential amendments to the policy.
