Conduct a Public Hearing to Consider, Discuss and Act upon a Recommendation to the City Council Regarding the Adoption of the 2024 Editions of the International Building Code, International Residential Code, International Existing Building Code, International Mechanical Code, International Plumbing Code, International Fuel Gas Code, International Energy Conservation Code, and the International Swimming Pool Spa Code, Codified in Chapter 122 of the Code of Ordinances, City of McKinney, Texas (the "McKinney Code"), and the International Fire Code, Codified in Chapter 42 of the McKinney Code, Together with Local Amendments to Each of the Foregoing "Model Codes" Recommended by the North Central Texas Council of Governments and/or City Staff.

EXISTING CONDITIONS: The City of McKinney currently has adopted and enforces the 2021 Editions of the International Codes listed above.
ITEM SUMMARY: The International Code Council updates their library of Building Codes every three years to stay current with new building technology, social trends, best practices, environmental responsibility, and in some cases, lessons learned from failures. Cities must officially adopt codes into ordinance for them to become effective. It is important that McKinney stays current with other area cities to create consistency and facilitate development. The City of McKinney is seeking to adopt the code amendments for the 2024 codes recommended by the North Central Texas Council of Governments, as well as a few local amendments, with the adoption of these codes.
