RECOMMENDED BOARD ACTION:
• Staff is requesting formal ratification of the second option year with the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Local Government Corporation (LGC).
ITEM SUMMARY:
• Request for approval to exercise the second and final option year of the Interlocal Agreement (ILA) between the DART LGC and the City of McKinney for transit services.
• The City is currently in the first of two approved one-year extension periods under the agreement, which is set to expire on December 31, 2025.
• Approval would extend the contract through the final option year as outlined in the original terms to expire on December 31, 2026.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• On November 15, 2021, the Council, on behalf of the MUTD, entered into an ILA with DART to provide microtransit services in the McKinney Urbanized Area.
• On May 21, 2024, the Council authorized the City Manager to seek the first extension of the ILA with DART.
• On March 4, 2025, the City Council adopted a Resolution approving the first amendment to exercise the first option year for the ILA.
