ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, the City Council will meet in Special Session to appoint members to the various boards & commissions of the city.

 

                     Prior to the special meeting,

o                     individual Council Members may prepare and submit to the City Secretary his or her list of preferred nominees; and

o                     the City Council may meet in Work Session, without action, to discuss preferencing nominations.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

                     Each board consists of members appointed to two-year terms with approximately half of all terms expiring in staggered years.

                     The City Council may fill expired terms with incumbent or new members. Additionally, the Council may remove / replace members with unexpired terms at any time, with or without cause.

                     153 new candidates and incumbent members applied to serve on the various boards & commissions in 2025

o                     102 individuals (67% of applicants) participated in interviews held between July 14-August 6 at the City Hall building

o                     39 individuals (25%) did not participate in the interviews

o                     12 individuals (8%) withdrew their application from consideration, including four incumbent members who are not seeking reappointment.
