RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
· Approval of Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
· This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a contract with Renaissance Planning Group, Inc. for consultant services to develop an On-Street Bicycle Master Plan.
· The On-Street Bicycle Master Plan shall be integrated into the City’s Comprehensive Plan.
· City staff representing Office of Environmental Stewardship, Planning, PROS, and Engineering interviewed two consultants and unanimously selected Renaissance Planning Group, Inc. as the preferred applicant to develop the On-Street Bicycle Master Plan.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
· The Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the On-Street Bicycle Transportation Master Plan and Shared Use Hike and Bike Trails Plan for the Honey Creek and Trinity River Greenways was issued on February 28, 2010.
· The original RFQ included the Hike & Bike Trail Plan for the Honey Creek and Trinity River Greenways; however, due to funding limitations, the Hike & Bike component was removed leaving the On-Street Bicycle Master Plan.
· The City has been awarded a DOE Efficiency Conservation Block Grant in the amount of $1,071,500 for nine energy savings activities, including $200,000 for an On-Street Bicycle Master Plan.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
The Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a contract with Renaissance Planning Group, Inc. for an amount not to exceed $170,000.
