RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION: Approve the Ordinance

ITEM SUMMARY:
* This ordinance amends the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Annual Budget to appropriate $578,000 in grant funds received from The Recycling Partnership.
* The funding will be used for the purchase and installation of smart truck camera technology on solid waste collection vehicles, as well as recycling education and outreach programs designed to improve participation and reduce contamination.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* The City of McKinney was awarded a grant from The Recycling Partnership, a national nonprofit organization that supports community recycling initiatives.
* Smart truck camera technology will enable real-time monitoring of recycling contamination, improve route efficiency, and enhance customer service.
* The recycling education and outreach component will focus on increasing public awareness of proper recycling practices through targeted campaigns and community engagement.
* Approval of this ordinance will formally amend the budget to recognize the grant revenue and appropriate the funds within the Solid Waste Fund.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
