RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of Resolution

ITEM SUMMARY:
* This item requests approval to apply for available lapsing funds from the Federal Transit Administration's (FTA) Section 5307 Urbanized Area Formula Grant Program for operating and mobility management expenses for Collin County Transit.
* Applying for these funds allows the City to obligate them before they expire, ensuring they are retained and used for eligible transit services.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* FTA's Section 5307 program has funded Collin County Transit since its inception in 2017. Collin County Transit provides subsidized, on-demand, share-ride transit services to eligible residents within the McKinney Urban Transit District service areas cities, which are Celina, Lowry Crossing, McKinney, Melissa, Princeton, and Prosper. Eligible residents must be over the age of 18 and meet at least one of these criteria: senior (65+), disabled, or low income according to Federal Poverty Guidelines.
* Funding is allocated by a formula based on population, population density, and annual reports of transit service data.
