ITEM SUMMARY:
• Direction 61:3 is requesting a grant in the amount of $5,000 to advertise, market and promote the 2024 BBQ & Bingo and the 2024 Christmas Mosaix Concert.
• This is the 5th year for BBQ and Bingo which will be held March 22, 2024 at the Flour Mill. The 2023 event sold out with 250.
• Tickets for BBQ and Bingo are $1,000 per table and $60 for an individual ticket ($30 for bingo and $30 for dinner).
• The 7th annual Christmas Mosaix will have performances on December 5 and 6, 2024.
• General admission tickets for Mosaix are $35 with VIP tickets ranging from $100 to $300.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Direction 61:3 is a 501(c)(3) organization established in 2015 to provide support for young adults aging out of foster care.
• Aged out youth are at high risk of challenges including homelessness, unemployment, incarceration, unplanned pregnancies and substance abuse.
• Direction 61:3 provides support and stability through housing, education and emotional support.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• MCDC’s allocation for Promotional and Community Event grants for FY 24 is $200,000 -- $100,000 for Cycle I applicants and $100,000 for Cycle II applicants.
• Direction 61:3 McKinney was awarded $4,000 in FY 19 for the promotion of the 2019 Christmas Mosaix Concert.
