RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION: Approve the Resolution                     

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The Resolution authorizes the City Manager to request, accept, and implement the grant award to receive supplemental funds to purchase residential recycling carts and to provide education and outreach.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

                     The Residential Curbside Recycling Cart Grant Program aims to advance recycling in communities across the U.S. by offering financial assistance.

                     The grant will offset the purchase cost of residential recycling carts for the new franchise agreement with Frontier Waste.

                     The City will purchase and retain ownership of residential recycling carts for approx. 58,000 single-family households.

                     The funding will provide $15 per recycling cart for the carts purchase with a funding cap of $750,000, and $1 per household for public education and outreach.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

                     $800,000.00. There is no funding match required for this grant.
