ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to enter into a Construction and Maintenance Agreement with Dallas Garland & Northeastern Railroad Inc. (DGNO), for the railroad crossing improvements at East Virginia Street required for the Virginia Street and Throckmorton Street Infrastructure Improvements (Municipal Complex) Project (ST2235) for a total contract amount not to exceed $518,863.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* The Virginia Street and Throckmorton Street Infrastructure Improvements (Municipal Complex) Project will begin construction in February 2024.
* Improvements to the railroad facilities, including a new roadway crossing and automated warning devices with the addition of roadway gates are proposed to be constructed in conjunction with the roadway improvements.
* The railroad is operated by the Dallas Garland & Northeastern Railroad (DGNO) who maintain the railroad facilities within Dallas Area Rapid Transit's (DART) property. DGNO utilizes specialized contractors to carry out any maintenance work or improvements of these facilities.
