RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Receive and discuss an update on MEDC’s Business Retention & Expansion (BRE) program.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• Staff will provide an overview of 2026 BRE activity, including business visits, engagement metrics, and key themes identified through conversations with McKinney employers.
• The presentation will highlight resources and connections provided to businesses, examples of continued local investment and growth, MEDC’s approach to tracking BRE outcomes, and future BRE survey and benchmarking efforts.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• MEDC’s BRE program focuses on strengthening relationships with existing McKinney businesses, identifying opportunities and challenges, connecting companies with resources, and supporting continued investment and expansion.
• The program combines direct business engagement with improved data collection and performance measurement to better understand and respond to the needs of McKinney’s business community.
