ITEM SUMMARY:
• Texas Cellos is requesting $15,000 for advertising, marketing, promotion and advertising of eight 2023-24 performances associated with three summer intensive programs.
• Concerts are held at McKinney Flour Mill or McKinney Cotton Mill.
• Ticket prices range from $25 to $35.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Texas Cellos aims to advance cello playing. They are a 501(c)3 that inspires and cultivates excellence in youth through music education, ensemble building and performance opportunities.
• With MCDC funding, their goal is to triple the reach of the Texas Cello School Summer Institutes and promote the Music@Mill performances.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• MCDC’s allocation for Promotional and Community Event grants for FY 23 is $200,000 -- $100,000 for Cycle I applicants and $100,000 for Cycle II applicants.
• Actual total grant funds available for Cycle II are $131,458. This includes reappropriations of unspent funds from FY 2022.
• This is the first time Texas Cellos has applied for a promotional grant from MCDC.
