RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of the Ordinance
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This Ordinance will extend the reduced speed school zone and times along Northbound Coit Road to reflect the construction of Jones Middle School adjacent to Rock Hill High School.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The Prosper Independent School District has constructed a new middle school on the west side of Coit Road within the City of Frisco. The name of the new school is Jones Middle School.
• The City Limit between McKinney and Frisco is the centerline of Coit Road, this Ordinance will only apply to the northbound lanes of Coit Road. The reduced speed school zone and times for the southbound lanes of Coit Road will be modified by the City of Frisco.
• The location of the proposed reduced speed school zones along Coit Road for Jones Middle School and Rock Hill High School are shown on the attached exhibit.
• The school zone time periods will be consistent with the Prosper ISD school schedule and will encompass both middle and high school time periods.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The City of Frisco will install and maintain the school zone flashing beacons and other related school signage along Coit Road for Rock Hill High School and Jones Middle School for both directions of travel.
