RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approval of Resolution.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The UASI program focuses on supporting state and local efforts to prevent and respond to terrorism and other catastrophic events and to prepare the nation for the threats and hazards that pose the greatest risk to our security.

                     This project will fund the purchase of Gas Masks for the McKinney Police department that will be deployed in critical incidents and events of public unrest where the use of chemical agents may be deployed. This allows for enhanced officer safety when planning and responding to immediate threats.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     The UASI program grant award has been sought annually by the City of McKinney to help prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural, man-made, and technological threats and hazards.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     If awarded, the grant amount is expected to be $20,000.
