RECOMMENDED BOARD ACTION: Approve the designation of NCTCOG as Designated Recipient for federal transit funding

ITEM SUMMARY:

The McKinney UZA received designation as a large urban area with the 2020 Census. As a result of that new designation, the UZA must select a new Designated Recipient of federal transit funding. NCTCOG is the Designated Recipient for the other large UZAs in the region. NCTCOG is also the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the other large UZAs in the region. A Designated Recipient is responsible for acting as a liaison to the FTA.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Shannon Stevenson of NCTCOG presented to the Board on May 16, 2023 regarding the recent updates to the UZA. Prior to this 2020 Census designation McKinney was designated as a small urban area by the 2010 Census and TXDOT was the Designated Recipient of federal transit funding.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

NCTCOG will set aside a small percentage of the allocated grant amount for strategic partnerships and administration.
