ITEM SUMMARY:
* Habitat for Humanity requests $30,000 for engineering costs necessary to rebuild the Pride Court retaining wall in Charleston Creek.
* A future funding request to cover construction is anticipated for application to the City and McKinney Community Development Corporation in Spring 2024.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* Charleston Creek is a Habitat for Humanity neighborhood constructed in 2007 and 2008.
* In February 2018, after a significant rain event, the retaining wall in the neighborhood behind 613 Pride Court collapsed.
* As the management association for the neighborhood, Habitat for Humanity seeks funding in order to reconstruct the wall.
* Per the bylaws, funding received from MPFC projects is allocated to the general fund.
* The MPFC received $2,000,000 at the closing of the Jefferson Verdant project. $1,500,000 was provided as a loan for the Palladium multifamily project in June, 2023. $500,000 remains and is budgeted in the Community Grants Fund.
* Request to utilize funds from MPFC projects are presented to the MPFC as informational and for a recommendation. City Council makes the final decision and approves any necessary agreements.
* A resolution and grant agreement are on the December 19, 2023 City Council Regular Agenda for approval.
