ITEM SUMMARY:
* MCDC will conduct a public hearing on a request submitted by McKinney Main Street in the amount of $80,000 for fabrication and installation of a 50-foot neon monument sign promoting Historic Downtown McKinney, to be positioned at the intersection of Highway 75 and Virginia Street.
* The location will be visible by more than 100,000 drivers daily.
* The Historic Downtown Cultural District is not visible from Highway 75, so the sign will provide a frame of reference for the entrance to Downtown McKinney.
* Additionally, during the 3-year construction of Highway 5, traffic will be diverted to enter Downtown from the West, primarily from the 75 and Virginia Street intersection.
