RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of the Ordinance
ITEM SUMMARY:
• The City of McKinney was eligible for $437,036 in TXDOT URB2002 allocation. $337,036 will not be utilized in FY20 due to expiration date of September 30, 2020.
• Unutilized funds to be “returned” to TxDOT to be used for FY21 in other small urban areas, including McKinney.
• Remaining funds of $100,000 will be programmed into FY20 budget for operating expenses while a portion of the remaining funds be used to assess the transit needs of the region.
• Staff requested the $100,000 in TXDOT URB2002 funds be split accordingly:
Ø $21,500 to pay for a transit assessment and statistical data analysis;
Ø $78,500 for operating costs. MUTD Board approved staff recommendations at their April 15, 2020 meeting.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Staff presented to the MUTD Board on April 15, 2020 to discuss the re-allocation of current TXDOT grant funds per TXDOT’s request. The board approved staff's recommendation to return funds and reprogram remaining funds.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• This Ordinance amends the Fiscal Year 2019-2020 Annual Budget to add $100,000 of URB2002 TXDOT funds under the City Fiscal Year ending September 30, 2020.
