RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:

Approval of Resolution to accept and implement the grant award to fund the enhancement of community preparedness programs with smart technology.

ITEM SUMMARY:

The UASI program focus is to support state and local efforts to prevent terrorism and other catastrophic events and to prepare the nation for the threats and hazards that pose the greatest risk to our security.

This project will address the National Priority Area for Enhancing Community Preparedness and Resilience.

The smart technology uses location-based services to notify subscribers of emergencies in their immediate vicinity opening greater opportunity for life-saving intervention between 911 notification and first responders arriving on scene. The technology would integrate with our robust automatic external defibrillator (AED) program and empower trained subscribers to augment professional emergency response services.
