RECOMMENDED COMMISSION ACTION:
* Conduct public hearing and provide funding recommendations for the FY 2026-2027 Transit Homelessness Response Grant.

ITEM SUMMARY:
* The Community Grants Advisory Commission (CGAC) will conduct a public hearing to review applications for the Transit Homelessness Response Grant.
* The purpose of the grant is to support individuals experiencing homelessness by connecting them to work, school, or medical care through the Collin County Transit Program.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* To help individuals that are currently unhoused, the City of McKinney strives to provide some level of financial support to nonprofit organizations whose mission is to service the unhoused community, to further the public purpose of reducing the number of households who are experiencing, or those at-risk of experiencing homelessness within the city.
* In previous years, agencies receiving grant funds from the city's budget for transit and other support services were not included under a competitive process. To improve public transparency all nonprofit agencies requesting funds to provide community or public services, must now apply through the Consolidated Grants process.
