RECOMMENDED ACTION:

                     Staff recommends the City Council consider and discuss potential changes to McKinney rules for dams and provide guidance to staff about potential changes.

 

ITEM SUMMARY:

                     City staff has recently received questions about McKinney rules regarding dams and their rehabilitation/reconstruction.  For example:

o                     Why are McKinney's rules different than rules in other cities? 

o                     Why are homes not allowed downstream of a dam? 

                     This item will highlight a few key concepts related to dams and compare McKinney’s requirements to those in other cities.

                     City staff is proposing changes to the city’s regulations, which will be discussed, and additional feedback from the City Council on the proposed changes is welcome.
