ITEM SUMMARY:
• This ordinance amends the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Annual Budget to appropriate a $450,000 donation from Baylor Scott and White in the Fire Department Donations Fund for AEDs for the Neighborhood Heros Program
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The City of McKinney Neighborhood Heros Program is a community-based public safety initiative designed to improve survival outcomes from sudden cardiac arrest by increasing rapid citizen response and expanding access to Automated External Defibrillators (AED) throughout the community.
• This initiative directly supports City Council Strategic Goal 6.7, which seeks to develop a citywide AED deployment strategy with the long-term goal of making an AED accessible within four minutes anywhere in McKinney.
• Baylor Scott & White Health has committed a donation of $450,000 to support the purchase, deployment, and implementation of AEDs for the Neighborhood Heroes Program. This funding will enhance public access to life-saving equipment and strengthen community emergency preparedness.
